How does The Nomad work?
Solving problems yourself
We always check the motorhome before departure. Nevertheless, unexpected problems can always arise. With some signs, you can simply continue driving or solve the problem yourself.
- Oil change: You will get the text "change oil. This means that we will have to change the oil at the next service. You can just keep driving it for now.
- Oil pressure: This light comes on when the oil pressure is too low. It may indicate a low oil level. You can refill oil yourself. Do this only when the engine is warm. Do not overfill. The oil level should be between the min and max lines.
- Coolant temperature: This light alerts you when the engine temperature is too high. It may indicate a problem with cooling, such as a faulty radiator or low coolant level. Stopping and letting the engine cool down is necessary to prevent damage. Call the breakdown number.
- Battery charge: This light indicates that the camper's battery is not sufficiently charged. It may indicate a problem with the alternator or the battery itself. It is wise to limit electrical systems and call the breakdown number.
- Brake System: This light can indicate various problems with the brake system, such as worn brake pads, a faulty caliper or a problem with the brake system in general. It is crucial to have the brakes checked as soon as possible. Call the breakdown number.
- First make sure the gas cylinder is completely open, not empty and that the crash sensor is not off (yellow pin should be facing inward). Should the gas bottle be empty, swap it with the 2nd gas bottle. See if you are now getting gas inside at the gas stove.
- Also check that the gas hose is vented properly. There is a red or black button on the gas hose. You can press this several times.
- Still no gas? Check the display for an error message (usually E517H). This means that you turned on the water heater or heater while the gas was not open or the gas cylinder was empty.
- First, turn off the water heater and heater. Then turn on the gas cylinder, and check at the gas stove if you have gas. Then you can remove the error message by clicking on it.
- Check that the battery is on. You usually do this by turning on the display (above the door).
- Check that the plug is properly attached. If you are not connected to power, it could mean that the battery is dead. While driving, the battery recharges or when it is connected to the mains.
- The outlets will not work if the RV is not connected to the power grid.
- Did you charge battery during the night but it is still dead? Then probably the battery is broken. Please contact us.
- Make sure the water pump is on. This button is often located on the display above the door.
- Make sure the hot water heater is closed this way, otherwise the water at the bottom can run out again and then the faucet won't work properly either.
- First, make sure you have power.
- Check that the plug is properly connected.
- Is the refrigerator still not working on power? First check that the refrigerator is working on gas.
- Does the refrigerator work on gas? If so, the campground or RV site may not offer enough amps to get the refrigerator working.
- First check that the motorhome is level. You can use wheel chocks to level the camper.
- Check that there is no debris in the drain. You can use ammonia to clean the pipes if necessary.
- Does the water drain slowly? That's normal. They are small pipes.
- Make sure the immobilizer (black folder attached to the key) is in the motorhome.
- Is the engine still not starting? If so, the immobilizer battery may be depleted. On the keychain is a little black backup key that you can hold against the alarm. This is usually under the glove box. Not working? Then call 0031 851307598.
- After this, the engine still does not start. Then it is best to call our breakdown number.
