The new Euro 6 diesel engines are equipped with a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) catalyst that uses AdBlue to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. The new emission standards require several diesel vehicles to use AdBlue. AdBlue converts some of the emitted substances into harmless gases. This technology ensures compliance with diesel emissions requirements. It also ensures low fuel consumption, drivability, torque and power.
AdBlue consumption depends on your driving style. A light on the dashboard warns you when the AdBlue needs refilling. When the AdBlue light comes on, you can often drive about 2,400 km. If the tank is not filled after 2,400 km, the vehicle cannot restart. So to avoid this, it is advisable to take care of this at the first next gas station. We explain how to refill the AdBlue yourself.

How to refill AdBlue yourself?
AdBlue is not a fuel additive, but a solution of water and urea, with its own reservoir that must be refilled regularly when indicated. Fortunately, this is not that difficult. The blue AdBlue filler cap is located behind the diesel tank valve. On average, you can travel about 1,000 km with 1 liter of AdBlue. In other words, you consume about 5 liters of AdBlue per 100 liters.
Large gas stations often have an AdBlue refueling point, this is usually indicated on the pillars at the beginning of the gas station. Here you can fill up with AdBlue just like you fill up your diesel. There are also jerry cans available, though these are less economical than refueling the AdBlue yourself. Remember to fill the tank with at least 5 liters of AdBlue. If AdBlue spills outside the filler neck, clean the area thoroughly and then continue filling. AdBlue crystallizes very quickly. Remove the crystallized liquid with a sponge and warm water.
After refilling, you should first turn on the ignition for about 5 minutes without starting the engine. After 5 minutes, turn off the motorhome. After this you can start the engine.
